Love Goes On Page 9

“I’ve never viewed a litter with all cute puppies.”

“Me either, but I think this litter will be all cuties!”

“I talked with my mom about moving to Rome at dinner.”

“What does she think about that?”

“She told me she’d miss me and we both have to make sacrifices for each other.”

  “She’s right about that.”

“Well, I’m sure you will miss them, and they’ll miss you; but we have to do what we have to do. I don’t like some things that I have to do, but I do perform because I’m expected to get it done.”

“I guess I’ll get accustomed to it eventually.”

“I’ll have to get used to it all over again.”

I kissed him. “What are we doing tomorrow?” I questioned him.

“Well, how about we travel to the roller rink?”

“Would you mind if I invite Anna and Rick?”

  “I don’t have a problem with that!”

“Good.” I smiled as we kissed.

After we all roller skated for a while we sat down to build up more energy and replenish our thirst.

“How have you been?” Anna inquired.

“I’ve been good. Kaden and I are looking into buying a home.”

  “That’s wonderful!” Anna responded excitedly.

“It is!” I hesitated, but Anna didn’t seem to notice.

“Well, how are you and Rick doing?” Kaden questioned.

“We’re doing great!” Rick responded enthusiastically.

“Well, Anna, do you want to roller blade with me while these two chat?” I asked Anna.

“Sure!” Anna said. We kissed our men; then we moved onto the roller rink floor.

“Why did you sound like you didn’t want to move into your own home?” Anna questioned me.

  “Darn you noticed!” I replied.

“Darn right, you can’t get anything by me.”

“I’m supposed to move to Rome with Kaden once we’re married. I’ve lived in Coopersville all my life, and I’m not ready to move away from a place I’ve grown to love to a place I’ve never been to.”

“Well, you’ll have to decide that on your own. I’m not trying to be rude, but I can’t help you on that issue because you know how I feel. I’ve already lost a good friend and a drug addict friend; I’m not about to let you leave too.”

“I know I’ll be in Coopersville for a few more years for sure.”

“Well, I don’t want to talk about this anymore because I don’t like this situation.”

  “Okay, sorry.”

“It’s not your fault things like this happen all the time. I will learn to live with it.”

I half hugged Anna. Then we went back to our men. Finally, we left the roller rink.

“Good-bye, Anna and Rick,” I said as I hugged both of them.

“Good-bye,” Anna whispered to Kaden and me as she hugged Kaden.

“Good-bye,” Rick said to Kaden and me as he shook hands with Kaden.

  “See you later,” Kaden responded.

After we arrived at the mansion, we allowed the pugs to romp outside. Then we carried them back in their room. When Kaden and I sank into bed, we cuddled together.

“How’d your talk go?” I questioned Kaden.

“Well, we actually had a fantastic discussion,” Kaden replied happily. “How’d your conversation go?”

“Not so well. Anna doesn’t want me to leave.”

“I’m sorry about that. But there’s nothing that can be done about it.”

“She already lost Susie, and Lucy betrayed us so I’m her only friend left.”

“I realize that, but maybe everything will work out.”

“I hope so. I don’t want to lose another friend.”

Kaden fell asleep long before me. I lay in bed awake for what seemed like hours thinking about my life ahead of me as princess of Rome. I surely didn’t want to lose my friendship with Anna.

  Riley’s Party Plans

February went by speedily. Today was March 5th! Riley’s birthday was approaching fast. The party is going to be held at the mansion and the theme is going to be Hello Kitty. My mom asked me to ride with her to the party store today just to be company to her while she purchased the remaining supplies for the party.

“What do you have to get today?” I questioned Mom.

Mom handed me the list, and I read over it seeing simple items.

“Mom, have you thought about having the cooks at the mansion prepare the food? They can cook really well.”

Mom laughed. “I wouldn’t dare ask Heather for another thing. She’s kind enough letting me use the mansion for the party.”

“Mom, she’ll permit the cooks to prepare the food.”

“You don’t think she’ll get angry at me asking for more?”

  “Not a chance!”

“Okay. If she does then I’m blaming you.”

“That’s fine with me.” I grinned.

After we purchased all the party supplies, we dashed back to the mansion. Mom came inside with me, and as we stepped inside, we were greeted by Kaden.

“Hi, Kaden,” my mom said cheerily.

“Hello, ma’am,” Kaden responded as he hugged my mom.

Then he pranced over to me and embraced me.

“Where is Heather?” I asked Kaden.

  “She’s in her office.”

“May my mother speak with her?”

“Sure! Come this way.” My mom followed Kaden. Then he returned without my mom.

Kaden kissed me. “How was the outing today with your mom?”

“Fine, she was nervous about talking to Heather, but I guess she’s over it now.”

  “Why was she nervous?”

“Because I suggested that the cooks could prepare food for Riley’s party, and she was nervous to ask Heather she is already allowing mom to use the mansion for the birthday party.”

“Oh, my grandma will not mind.”

“She didn’t mind.” I heard my mom exclaimed from behind me. I turned around.

  “Well, that’s great!” I said.

“Well, I have to go, Sara. I’ll see you soon.”

“Okay, Mom.” I embraced my mom. “Bye Mom.”

“Bye.” She meandered outside and drove away.

“Well, let’s have to dinner,” Kaden reminded me.

“Awesome! I’m really hungry!” I exclaimed.

  Kaden chuckled, “Me too!”

I playfully socked Kaden. “Stop being dirty minded!”

He laughed again. “I’m not, honestly.” He smiled at me.

“Yeah, sure,” I said in a teasing manner. I smiled at him; then we sat down for dinner.

A few minutes later Heather joined us.

“Sara?” Heather began. “Why was your mother so nervous about asking me if the cooks would prepare food for Riley’s party?”

“She was jittery because you’re already permitting her to use the mansion for the birthday party, and I’m guessing she didn’t want to sound pushy or greedy since you’ve been extremely nice.”

“Oh, she is very welcome to use this house and my cooks. I don’t mind at all. Your mother is such a sweet woman.”

  “Thank you,” I smiled.

After we finished eating, I talked to Heather awhile about Riley’s party. She was explaining to me what she expected to happen. After we finished chatting I walked into the hallway to find Kaden, but he was nowhere to be found. As I searched the house I was becoming worried. I walked back through the hallway and as 1did Kaden came out of nowhere.

“Where do you keep coming from?” I quizzed.

Kaden laughed. “What do you mean?” He asked.

“Every time I turn around, you pop up.”

Kaden laughed again. Then he placed his arms around my waist. I put my arms around his neck. “This house has plenty of secret hideaways.”

  “Why don’t you show me?”

  “I can’t.”

  “I don’t understand why you can’t.”

  “It’s a secret.”

I gave Kaden an evil eye. “You don’t make any sense sometimes.”

  “And like you do?”

I gave Kaden another evil eye. “I think I do make sense.”

“I do not understand you,” Kaden answered with a smirk.

  “Well, show me,” I whined.

  “No!”

“Oh, Kaden,” I was still whining, “Why can’t I see, really?”

“Because that’s one thing Heather will not permit you to do yet. Those locations lead to places that you’re not allowed to see yet.”

“Why couldn’t you have said that in the first place?” I questioned annoyingly.

“Because it still would have ended up in a bunch of whys.”

The next day Kaden and I ran some errands for Heather, when we came back to the mansion; we let Sadie and Coco outside to play. While Kaden and I held hands and strolled around the yard.

“What are we going to do today?” I asked Kaden.

“I’m not sure? But I was thinking we’d go and get some ice cream with your parents and

  Riley,” Kaden answered.

“Oh! Great idea! That would be supreme.”

Kaden grinned. “I knew you’d like that idea.”

“I certainly do! And ice cream is so delicious!”

Kaden chuckled. “What am I going to do with you?”

  “What?” I questioned innocently.

  “Nothing, Sara,” Kaden laughed.

  “Well, when are we going?”

“Well, it was about three-thirty when we came outside. I guess you can give your mom a call and tell them to meet us there by four.”

“Okay, will do.” I kissed Kaden; then I took out my cell phone and dialed my mom’s number.

  “Hello?” Mom answered cheerfully.

“Mom, it’s, Sara! Do you, Dad and Riley want to come and eat ice cream with Kaden and me?”

  “What time?”

  “Four.”

  “Okay, we’ll be there.”

  “Okay, Mom, see you then.”

  “Okay, bye.”

  “Bye,” We hung up.

“Mom told me they are going to come.” I announced to Kaden.

“Then lets get ready for ice cream.”

After we took the pugs to their room, Kaden and I showered and dressed. Then we climbed into his truck and drove to get ice cream. The place we’re getting ice cream at is called Carousel. What a scrumptious ice cream!

When we arrived at Carousel, Mom, Dad and Riley were seated at a table waiting for us.

  We paraded over to them.

“Hey! Mom, Dad and Riley,” I greeted them.

Then I took Riley from my mom’s arms and gave her a kiss on her cheek. She giggled at me.

“Hello, guys,” my dad shook Kaden’s hand.

“Hello, Sara! Hello, Kaden!” my mom greeted us. Then she gave Kaden a big bear hug.

I sat down next to my mom with Riley on my lap while my dad and Kaden purchased our ice cream.

  “Sara?” Kaden questioned me.

  “Yes?” I responded.

“What kind of ice cream do you want?”

“I would like a cherry sundae.”

Kaden then stepped away with my dad.

“How have you been?” I questioned my mom.

“I’ve been very good, just really busy,” Mom answered.

“Staying busy is better than being bored.” I giggled.

“I’ll be glad when you baby sit Riley for me this summer.”

“Yes, I’m excited too, along with Kaden. It’ll be awesome for you and Dad to have a relaxing break.”

“It will, but I’ll miss you both. I’ll be phoning to check up on her. It’s not that I don’t trust you, but mothers just need to know that everything’s all right.”

  “Any mom would.”

  “You’re so understanding, Sara.”

“I try to be, Mom,” I smiled at her.

“So what has Miss Riley been doing?”

“She has been getting into things, but other than that, she’s extremely healthy.”

“That’s good other than when she’s getting into everything.” Mom and I chuckled. Riley gave me a big smile that just melted my heart. “Awe Mom did you see that?”

“I positively did,” Mom smiled back at me.

“You’re going to be a wonderful role model for her!”

  “I certainly hope so.”

“You will. I have no doubt.”

I kissed Riley on her forehead, and then handed her to my mom. Mom set her in her stroller and began to feed her baby food.

Then Kaden and my dad brought the ice cream over. We started devouring the ice cream, but Mom couldn’t eat hers until Riley finished eating which was a short process.

“So, Sara, how’s school?” Dad questioned me.

  “I’m doing great! I have all A’s!”

  “Well done!” Dad exclaimed excitedly.

“Yes, well done!” Mom sounded extremely pleased.

“She kept complaining about going everyday but Sara is doing fantastic with school, keeping up on her homework, and all of the other details,” Kaden stated.

I gave him an evil look for revealing that information to parents that I didn’t really want to attend school. Kaden grinned at me sneeringly.

“Well, sooner than you know, you’ll be finished with school,” Mom retorted.

“I know it, but it’s difficult these last few years,” I reported.

“It will be, but you just have to be determined to finish,” my dad responded.

“Well, I know, and I’m trying,” I finished.

“Don’t just try, Sara, make yourself work to your fullest ability,” Kaden positively stated.

“Oh, you’re just saying that because you are engaged to me,” I responded jokingly.

  “No, I actually mean it!”

“Well, this school year’s almost over, and I’ve done well.”

  “That’s great!” Mom complimented me.

“That’s very good!” Dad seconded Mom’s praise.

After we finished eating, we hugged my parents and Riley good-bye. Then Kaden and I departed. My mom and dad remained longer to enjoy the time out of their home.

When Kaden and I arrived at the mansion, we let the pugs outside to romp. After they did their business, I took them to their room. Kaden and I adorned ourselves for bed.

When we jumped into bed, we cuddled face to face.

“What a great time tonight!” Kaden exclaimed.

“Yes, it was!” I said excitedly.

“We’ll have to do that frequently this summer.”

“Well, not too much because I don’t want to get all ice creamed out.”

  Kaden chuckled, “True.”

“What are our plans for tomorrow?”

“I’m not sure; I’ll think of something.”

  “You always do.”

  “I’m the man.”

I giggled, “Yeah, Kaden, because you’re the man,” I sneered sarcastically.

  “I am. I’m your man.”

  “Well, I hope so.”

  We chuckled.

The next day didn’t take long for us to figure out the day’s activi
ties because as soon as

I woke up Kaden was standing in the door frame to our bedroom with water skis in his hands.

“The weather today is 78 degrees, so it’s perfect to water-ski.” Kaden informed me.

We were at Lake Tahoe. Kaden and I got hooked up to the boat so we’re both skiing at the same time.

When the boat took off, I almost fell over, but Kaden grabbed my arm with his free hand to steady me. Then he released me once I got my balance.

While Kaden and I water skied we had a photographer whom Kaden hired, on the boat to take photos of us.

After we skied, Kaden talked to the photographer. Then we stepped into Kaden’s truck and drove back to the mansion.

“The photographer reminded us that he would bring the pictures by later today around five.” Kaden told me.

“Okay, I can’t wait to see them!”

  “Me either!”

Once we arrived at the mansion, we showered and then took the pugs outside to play while Kaden and I sat and talked.

“What time is it now?” I asked him.

  “It’s three-thirty.”

  “Time flew by today.”

  Kaden chuckled, “Yeah!”

  “I’m getting hungry.”

“Dinner will be ready at six.”

  “I can wait, I guess.”

“Did you have a good time today?”

“I certainly did! I love it when you come up with fantastic ideas like that!”

  “Well, I’m glad you do.”

I kissed Kaden. “So are you getting ready to become king?”

“I positively am. Every day you’re at school, I’m working on becoming the best king I can be for Rome.”

“That’s awesome. Where is the first house located since you won’t tell me what it looks like?”

“It’s on a lake. Whoever buys the house owns the lake too, so it’s a pretty penny for the first place,”

“Oh, is that why you are still keeping your options open?”

“Money is no problem for me, but I want this house to be the one.”

“I’m sure the house you choose will be wonderful.”

  “I hope so.” We embraced.

  “It will be.”

“Riley’s birthday is getting very near, huh? Is your mom excited?”
